Our vision

The popular resurgence in last few years of sci fi and fantasy films is showcased in movies like “Avatar” “District 9” and “Alice in Wonderland.” This re-emergence has lead to high grosses, great audience enthusiasm and fan-dom. We want to create a new, original sci-fi franchise with both sequel and solid merchandising potential.
Typically these movies cost an immense amount of money and require huge resources. However, our unique approach aims to create revolutionary high quality imagery without the accompanying costs, allowing the effects-laden experience audiences have come to expect at a fraction of the blockbuster cost.
We are going to use a mix of miniatures and computer artistry to create the scale of world we need to tell this story. By using older styles of world creation with cutting edge CGI, compositing etc we will capture this alien world with a unique feel not normally seen in the CGI work that has emerged in the last few years. Our team will bring together a unique set of skills which allows us to achieve similar effects on a micro budget of what they normally cost when done in a more totally traditional or digital manner.

Our Story

“Rising from a life of squalor, a young man finds his destiny in an epic duel with the son of a powerful imperial family, yet they share a shattering secret.”
Like successful sci-fi or fantasy movies of the past [“Star Wars” “Aliens” and “Lord of the Rings”] our story is set in an otherworldly civilization at the critical moment of its history, featuring an ensemble cast fighting beyond good and evil to reshape this new world or destroy it.
Against this backdrop, a Shakespearean duel between two families, an imperial house weakened by it's failing leader sees the rise of a brutal and determined son who seizes power. This conflict drives a young man living among the lowest of the city to resist the tyrant, aided by an exiled priestess. But even the villain of the story has his reasons, his mission given to him in terrifying visions. It's a race to awaken the dead gods, viewed with religious awe, they are in fact ancient humanoid bio machines over a hundred feet in height long buried and forgotten, now to be awakened as weapons of civil war.
While this world will be strange it is the singular most important element that the Characters seem real, motivated by who they are, and what they experience. We have to see this world through their eyes.

Our world

Fifteen hundred years ago a spaceship with the ability to create planetary ecosystems fell from orbit spewing out its cargo on a unknown planets surface. After the crash, the ship attempted to repair itself and start planetary conversion, or terra forming, spreading a living breathing world for hundreds of kilometres. Over taxed by its own repairs and flaws in the system the artificial eco-system starts to collapse. The living forest after having only existed for a few centuries dies off in a few decades leaving a dead world behind.
Now the only remnants of the original crash are broken machines, twisted wreckage, traces of that once beautiful massive forest Everything is old, stunted, worn down by the constant wind and rain covering this planet. The ship now long since buried is no longer recognized as a space craft but is seen as a city worshipped as a god. At its edge a massive singular tower pieces the sky, home to the powerful while in catacombs beneath the remaining population live a primal existence
Outward from the city in all directions spreads the black ash forest, a massive fractal spider web of broken flora fauna consumed in ancient fires.
Yet it is not a completely dead land. Nearby on smouldering ash fields insect like robots scour the layers of dirt and debris while high above bird shaped aircraft circle in machine patterns. Below them tiny figures and ancient machines mine the scrap heap looking for anything of value.
A short distance outside of the buried city a smaller ruined city of mud and brick its fallen spires and open market spaces speak of a past above ground and outside but now in sad decay. Despite looking tiny next to the greater city it still covers kilometres with thousands of standing buildings with some over fifteen stories tall.
In the distance a storm front is moving in, harbinger of the twice annual monsoons which cover the consumed land in a greasy sheen of chemical rain. The weather here is in reality two seasons, foggy cold wet mud, and hot dusty with sporadic forest fires with little time between one or the other.
Most days are an averaging of those extremes which mark one season from the other, thus cold gray brown low clouds, fog and rain every few days.
This description has outlined the atmosphere and feel of this strange world, the scope we are after, some thing as large as the settings of “Avatar”, “Lord of the Rings”, or “Star Wars” but fitting into our low budget cost and presented in a unique mix of models and CGI.

Our inspirations

So in terms of what story style would be the closest tone for this film would be a mix of the scale of the above sci fi films, the narrative and character style of HBOs ROME with the philosophical edge of the original “Matrix” against a look inspired by the incredibly popular Japaneses anime and kaiju monsters.
